Aliko Dangote, the big boss of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and the top honcho at Dangote Industries Limited, has been named in the inaugural 2025 TIME100 Philanthropy list. This list recognizes the 100 most influential leaders who are shaping the future of philanthropy worldwide. Dangote, the lone ranger from Nigeria, has made it to this exclusive club.
The prestigious TIME Magazine published this list on Tuesday, showcasing Aliko Dangote, who splashes around $35 million each year on programs across Africa through his foundation. He shares space with other big shots in the charity game like Michael Bloomberg, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffett, and Melinda Gates, who are all known as Titans. The list also features other notable names such as David Beckham, Dolly Parton, Lisa Yang, Michael Dell and Susan Dell, Jack Ma, and even Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
In total, 100 influential folks from 28 countries have been given a nod for their philanthropic deeds in four categories: Titans, Leaders, Trailblazers, and Innovators. Dangote, being the rockstar that he is, emerged as one of the 23 Titans on the list. TIME highlighted Dangote’s incredible journey to riches, amassing a whopping $23.9 billion through his ventures in cement, agriculture, and oil refining in Nigeria. Not too shabby, right? But wait, there’s more to this story.
