So, like, there was this General Court Martial thing happening at the Headquarters, 82 Division, Nigerian Army in Enugu, right? And they were all judging this Private Adamu Mohammed dude for killing his girlfriend, Miss Hauwa Ali. I mean, that’s some heavy stuff, man. The President of the court, Brigadier General Sadisu Buhari, was the big cheese in charge, and he was like, “Yo, Adamu, you’re gonna hang for this murder business.”
Then, there was another dude, Private Abubakar Yusuf, who got caught robbing a Mall in Enugu. I mean, seriously, who robs a mall? Anyway, he got slapped with a 10-year prison sentence by the court martial. The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Jonah Unuakhalu, spilled the beans to the journalists in Abuja, saying these two fellas got what was coming to them after their trials for murder and robbery wrapped up.
The court martial had like 11 members and started doing its thing on February 18, 2025, under the watchful eye of Major-General Oluyemi Olatoye, the General Officer Commanding, 82 Division. They were there to deal with all the shady stuff happening within the Division, you know?
Unuakhalu, the Lieutenant-Colonel dude, gave an update on the situation in Abuja on Tuesday. He blabbered on about how Private Mohammed’s murder gig was against the law according to Section 106(a) of the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The court was like, “Nah, man, you can’t just go around killing people,” and sentenced him to death by hanging. Harsh, right?
And then there was Private Yusuf, getting himself in trouble for robbing a mall. The court found him guilty under Section 107(1)(b) of the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20 LFN 2004. They thought about going easy on him, but in the end, he got hit with a 10-year prison term. Tough break, dude.
The President of the court, Buhari, was all serious about it, saying, “These guys messed up big time, and they gotta pay for it.” The sentences still need to be confirmed by the higher-ups, but that’s pretty much the end of the road for these two troublemakers.
Unuakhalu made sure to remind everyone that the Nigerian Army doesn’t mess around when it comes to discipline and professionalism. They’re all about keeping things in line and making sure everyone follows the rules. It’s like a big ol’ family, you know? But when someone messes up, they gotta face the music.
So yeah, that’s the scoop on Private Mohammed and Private Yusuf. It’s a tough world out there, and the Army is making sure everyone plays by the rules. Not really sure why this matters, but hey, that’s the news for ya.
