**Crackdown on Criminals in Abandoned Buildings: FCT Takes Action**

In a move to rid the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of criminal elements lurking in abandoned buildings and plots of land, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has instructed the formation of a special task force. This directive aims to tackle the growing issue of miscreants vandalizing government assets and infrastructure.

**Task Force Deployment**

Adamu Gwary, the Director of the Department of Security Services in the FCT Administration, revealed this development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja. Gwary emphasized the importance of addressing the hibernating points for miscreants, which include uncompleted structures, abandoned plots of land, and buildings.

**Strategic Efforts to Clear Criminal Hideouts**

The FCT Security Committee has identified these locations as breeding grounds for criminal activities. The Commissioner of Police in the FCT has been tasked with collaborating with his counterparts to establish a task team to address this issue effectively. The team has already submitted a proposal for financing the operation, which will target not only pantaker markets but also areas where scavengers and miscreants gather.

Gwary stated that within the next two to three weeks, there will be a concentrated effort to clear all criminal hideouts in the FCT and surrounding areas. The objective is to identify and eliminate all uncompleted buildings, abandoned plots of land, and structures that provide refuge for criminal elements.

**Addressing Security Concerns**

The FCTA Land Department is currently conducting a comprehensive survey of undeveloped lands in the FCT as per the minister’s directive. Owners of undeveloped plots of land have been instructed to develop them promptly, or face the risk of having their allocation revoked. This measure is aimed at addressing security issues related to undeveloped lands that serve as hideouts for criminals.

**Securing Under Bridges**

Furthermore, the FCT minister has tasked the acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to take control of all under bridges in the territory. This move is intended to prevent miscreants from using these locations as hideouts and perpetrating criminal activities.

**Daily Raids by FCT Police Command**

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has initiated daily raids on identified criminal black spots in Abuja. The objective is to combat criminal activities and safeguard public and private infrastructure in the region, as stated by the command’s public relations officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

As the crackdown on criminals in abandoned buildings gains momentum, the FCT is taking decisive steps to ensure the safety and security of its residents and infrastructure. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
