Governor Uba Sani, the man with a plan to create skilled workers in Kaduna State. He wants to make sure young people can stand on their own two feet and tech companies can snatch them up once they’ve got the right skills. The Commissioner of Business Innovation and Technology, Mrs Patience Fakai, spilled the beans at a recent ministerial briefing at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House. She made it crystal clear that the governor is all about Human Capital Development.
Skills Acquisition Cities are popping up like mushrooms in Soba town, Rigachikun, and Samarun Kataf towns, covering zones 1, 2, and 3 senatorial districts. Mrs Fakai mentioned that these cities will churn out 12,000 fresh graduates in the first year and a whopping 24,000 by the second year. These graduates will be experts in 13 different trades, including welding, aluminium fabrication, fashion design, and solar panel installation. It’s not just about learning skills; these young guns will also get certified, thanks to a partnership with NBTE.
But wait, there’s more! The Panteka Market is getting a glow-up to become an industrial hub. With a staggering 38,000 artisans putting in work there, it’s about time they get some love. The governor is hooking them up with ICT facilities, roads, a clinic, and even a fire station. Mrs Fakai also let slip that these artisans will be getting certified through the Skills Cities, giving them a leg up in their careers. And guess what? The ministry has been playing matchmaker at Career Fairs, linking over 300 job seekers with potential employers. Jobberman even set up Job Centres in the north and south of the state to help these young bloods find the perfect job match. They’ve been dishing out advice on how to craft killer CVs and pick jobs that fit their skills like a glove.
