bandits-attack-zamfara-communities-shops-burnt-in-reprisal

So, like, there was this crazy incident in Yar Tashar Sahabi, a village in Zamfara State, where bandits went on a rampage on Tuesday. They set fire to shops and stole livestock, all because some vigilantes had the nerve to take them down a notch. The vigilante group had apparently ambushed and killed a bunch of armed men on Sunday, even managing to rescue some stolen cattle in the process.

According to the chatty residents, the bandits swooped in at the crack of dawn, setting shops and vehicles ablaze, and snatching up all the poor animals they could find. It was a real mess, let me tell you. But hey, the security forces in Magami were on the ball and managed to push back the attackers before things got even more out of hand. Good on them!

This attack is just the latest in a series of retaliatory strikes by these armed groups in the state. Over in Tsafe LGA, several villages have been getting hit left and right in what the locals are calling a well-coordinated revenge spree. It’s like a real-life action movie, but without the cool special effects.

Earlier this month, after the infamous gang leader Dan Isuhu bit the dust, bandits decided to go all out on Keta village. During that chaotic raid, one unlucky resident ended up six feet under, 11 cars went up in flames, and a bunch of shops got looted. And as if that wasn’t enough, those gunmen also paid a not-so-friendly visit to Gidan Arne village, where they shot three people and snatched over 40 women. Two of the poor souls didn’t make it, while the third is hanging on for dear life in some secret medical facility.

When I tried to get the scoop from the Zamfara State Police Command, their spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, was all like, “I dunno anything about Yar Tashan Sahabi’s attack. Lemme check with the big boss in charge of Maru and get back to ya.” But surprise, surprise, I’m still waiting for that call back. Classic.

So, like, there you have it. Another day, another round of chaos in Zamfara State. Who knows what’s gonna happen next? These bandits sure know how to keep everyone on their toes.
