First Lady Empowers Kaduna Women with N50m Grant
In a heartwarming display of support and empowerment, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, recently granted N50 million to the First Lady of Kaduna State, Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani. This generous grant aims to bolster 1,000 women petty traders in the state, offering them a renewed sense of hope and financial stability.
Senator Tinubu’s gesture, presented under the umbrella of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), signifies a significant step towards uplifting women in Kaduna State. During a poignant ceremony at the Umaru Yarádua Conference Centre, the symbolic cheque was handed over, marking a new chapter of support for these enterprising women.
Empowering Women Through Financial Assistance
The essence of this grant lies in its ability to empower women to flourish in their small businesses, enhancing their economic prospects and overall well-being. Through the guidance of Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani, the State Coordinator of RHI, each beneficiary will receive N50,000 to inject fresh capital into their enterprises.
Senator Tinubu’s commitment to economic empowerment extends beyond this grant. She also kickstarted the distribution of 10,000 Professional Kits to midwives across the North-West region, encompassing states like Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara. These kits, comprising Scrubs and Crocs, were generously donated by a global benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous.
Impactful Initiatives for Health Professionals
The significance of these Professional Kits cannot be understated, as they serve as a vital tool in equipping midwives with the necessary resources to carry out their duties effectively. In line with the Federal Government’s efforts to retrain 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide, this distribution serves as a complementary measure to enhance healthcare services.
As Senator Tinubu aptly stated, the provision of these kits transcends mere material support; it embodies a deep appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of midwives in their noble profession. The distribution across different geopolitical zones underscores the commitment to bolstering healthcare services nationwide, one kit at a time.
In response to this compassionate gesture, Governor Uba Sani lauded the First Lady’s unwavering dedication to improving the lives of Nigerian women and underserved communities. Recognizing the critical role midwives play in maternal healthcare, he emphasized the importance of ensuring their welfare and safety in delivering essential services.
Governor Uba Sani highlighted the pressing issue of maternal mortality and the pivotal role midwives play in addressing this challenge. By prioritizing their well-being and providing them with essential protective gear like Scrubs and Crocs, the government aims to create a safer and more conducive environment for healthcare professionals to operate.
This commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers extends to the state level, with Kaduna State Government implementing various initiatives to enhance the healthcare system. Through the upgrading and equipping of Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) and the recruitment of additional midwives, the government is striving to reduce maternal and child mortality rates and improve overall healthcare services.
In the coming year, the state plans to further upgrade and equip additional PHCs, solidifying its commitment to providing quality healthcare services to all residents. As construction efforts continue to revitalize healthcare facilities across Kaduna State, the impact of these initiatives on the community’s well-being is poised to be profound and far-reaching.
